DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW?
Of course, you don’t. How could you? How can you possibly know what you don’t know? BUT! you need to find out and get about the business of knowing it. It’s your vision, your dream, your desire, your destiny. The onus is always on you to find out what you need to know. This is critical and the place where so many trip on the steps on their way to the next level.
You don’t always know what you don’t know. Ok, fair enough. Then how shall you know it? The first thing you must do is ruthlessly resist being “a know-it-all,” even if you know something. Otherwise, people will withhold helpful information, ideas and suggestions if they think you don’t need it, or won’t accept it. We all know people who think their rough lives have taught them everything. Not so. Everyone values their own life experiences. There are, indeed, lessons you’ve learned and lessons you are to teach, yet there is still much to be learned. Things we can get only from each other; things that only time can teach.
There is something quite amazing. The Universe doesn’t always make us wait for the lessons of time. It allows people to speak into our lives and if we accept their wisdom, time will confirm it.
Being unaware of things that can help you can be most frustrating. You’re doing the best you can with the information you have. Others are moving ahead. What is it they know that you don’t know? That’s a major reason for the caution to not skip steps. Sure, you can skip steps and get to where you’re going quicker but you won’t be equipped for success or to stay. You’ll only have to go back and spend time on the step you missed. It’s one thing to review something you’ve learned and entirely another thing to get to a point in the journey and realize something is missing; you don’t know what you need to know, or worse, you don’t know what you don’t know.
Depending on your personality, you may be inclined to shy away from this critically important step to your next best level. If you do, you’ll be stuck. You may be brilliant, and insanely gifted, but you’ll still be stuck.
When You’re Thirsty, Go To Where The Water Flows
NETWORK! NETWORK! NETWORK!
There isn’t one person who knows everything, nor is there one place where all the information is held. You must get in the flow from the brain pool. People talk and share information. How many times have you said, “Oh, I didn’t know that!” What a great feeling it is to learn something you didn’t know. Put yourself out there where information flows and quench your thirst.
Oh, one more thing. Social networking is great! BUT! You must come in from cyberspace, put that “can’t do without” device in your pocket or pocketbook and shake some hands.
