Are You Where You Want To Be?
This question most often echoes in the minds of many when they’re suddenly 40, abruptly 50, or OMG! 60+. The AH HA moment when one suddenly becomes aware of the reality of their own mortality. That is not at all to suggest a moment of morbid feeling, but a moment of awareness. There may be other questions that follow, such as:
Let’s consider these questions in the order presented.
So, if you look hard enough and objectively enough, you’ll pinpoint exactly the crossroads and decisions that lead to this place in life. Hold on a minute. Though it may not seem so at first, it’s really a good thing to remember. If you’re in a bad place, or not the place you want to be, the point of remembering is not to punish or malign yourself. Far from it. It serves only to know what happened. Which brings us to the second question.
Seek the silence where God is. Be still in the presence of God. Shut out the clamoring voices so that you can hear the voice of God. John 16:13 says Spirit will tell you the truth and show you things in your future. Flow with Spirit like the rivers of water, into new and fresh places.
If you decide to ride it our the rest of the way, then that’s your choice to make. It’s your life. Handle it the way you want. No one else will do it for you because they’re too busy trying to handle their own.
There was a prophet named Elijah in the Old Testament of the Bible. He pulled off a major victory over the enemies of God on Mt. Carmel. Shortly after he’s found sitting under a tree, depressed, wanting to give up on life. God was sympathetic. Understanding how the prophet felt, God told him it was okay if he wanted to give up. There was more work to be done but there were 7,000 others that could do the job.
The reality couldn’t be any clearer than that. God left the ball in Elijah’s court. It was Elijah’s choice to make and there were no threatening consequences attached.
The ball is in your court. Is there something in your heart to accomplish? Is there something you were born to do? Are you willing to allow someone else to do “your work.”
